Emil Scoffone, Alpine FC's Referee Assignor, was honored at the January Club Meeting for his innovation. Under Emil's leadership, the Club has moved to an online assigning system which greatly expanded the pool of referees and offers the coach and manager the opportuity to provide feedback (rating) of officials. Emil also introduced a referee mentor system in order to "grow" our younger local officials.

Welcome to our new coaches: Ramiro Arredondo returns to the Peninsula where he began his soccer career. Ramiro notched an astonishing 96 goals and 70 assists during his Hall of Fame career at Woodside Priory. He played for several youth club teams and won three State Cup Championships as well as playing for State, Regional and National teams. Ramiro played for UC Berkeley, where was a 3-time Pac-10 first teamer and earned a BA in Art and Architecture in 2001. Ramiro's coaching career is no less stellar; he served as a trainer and coach at San Ramon Soccer Club from 2001-2009 where he created and Age Specific Training Program. Ramiro has earned NSCAA Advanced Regional and National Youth Diplomas as well as holding a USSF National "C" license.
Wayne Kania is a USSF "A" and UEFA "B" licensed coach with 23 years of coaching experience. He has coached toddlers through adults including international experience in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Japan and, of course, the United States. Originally from Sheffield, UK, Wayne has resided int he Bay Area since 1985 and has played locally as well as internationally.
Gino Pucillo comes to Alpine FC from Walnut Creek Soccer Club where he served as training coordinator for the U9-U10 age groups. He has coached successful teams at De Anza Force (head coach) as well as Foothill College (assistant coach). Gino holds his NSCAA Advanced National and Youth National licenses and has a BS from San Jose State in Kinesiology and is also accredited with the Positive Coaching Alliance. Gino played for the San Francisco Vikings, State ODP, Saint Ignatius College Prep and San Jose State University.
Kalwant Sandhu has been a fixture in local youth soccer for more than a decade. Kal has an extensive resume that includes a playing career in Singapore and the UK and for USF and various local amateur and semi-pro teams. Kal has coached at many levels, including AYSO, middle and high school, semi-pro and most recently at the MP Strikers Club. Kal founded the Mid-Penisnula Futsal League and the Strikers Academy; he holds a NSCAA National Diploma and a CYSA "F" license. Kal is joining Alpine FC as part of the Alliance at BU11 with MP Strikers and will coach the BU11 Badgers Blue.
Kim Yokers joined the FC Gold Pride for its inaugural season in 2009 after a four-year career as stating center midfielder at UC Berkley (graduating in 2004), and a member of the US U21 National Team from 2002-2004. Kim's coaching experience includes team and personal training for all ages for the past four years and Technical Skills Trainer and Facility Manager at Sutton Soccer (Alameda). Kim is offering Friday small group sessions with personalized video analysis. Click here to find out more.
Martin Pantoja is taking two seasons off from coaching as he pursues his education. Wayne Kania who will take the helm of the BU10 Eagles Red and Blue and Gino Pucillo will head the Leopards Red and Blue. Volunteers Needed:
The Club needs volunteers to keep everything running smoothly. Managers have a very big job with the team, so we ask that each team also provide 1-2 key club volunteers who handle everything from Equipment (goal maintenance and repair) to Club-wide fundraising and events. Winter Camps and Clinics a Hit:
The Winter Camp with Orlando Cervantes was a big hit with players from 8-18. More than 20 players participated and received great instruction from this popular coach.
The Winter Speed & Agility Clinic with Ty Blair was a sell-out with more than 20 players from Alpine FC and MP Strikers taking part.
The Alpine Attack Academy for 5-8 year-olds will begin again in spring and the Club will be offering summer camps and clinics and we hope to offer an entry-level referee course....check the website.
