About Us
Vision, Mission and Core Values
The Alpine FC Board has spent several years reviewing best practices and surveying the membership to create a club that reflects the goals of our community. We created the following statement to guide our planning and decisions:
Vision:
Alpine FC will distinguish itself as the preferred local soccer Club, providing an exemplary program for our community's players.
Mission:
The core mission of Alpine FC is the development of our players. The Club provides appropriate levels of competition, outstanding complementary programs, and recruits, develops, and retains the highest quality coaches and officials.
Core Values:
Player-centric: Coaches and volunteers place the needs of the player first.
Personal responsibility: Players, coaches, and volunteers embrace their responsibilities as members of the club and their team.
Sportsmanship: Players, coaches, and parents consistently demonstrate exemplary sportsmanship and personal integrity.
Teamwork: Players, parents, and volunteers work cooperatively to achieve team and club goals.
Open communication: Decisions by club volunteers, coaches, parents, and players are transparent.
Pride: Alpine FC creates a sense of pride in our players, coaches, parents, volunteers, and greater community.
Programs
Alpine FC is a non-profit community-based educational organization; it is the club’s vision that Alpine FC players and their families embrace soccer as a joyful life-long activity that promotes physical fitness and emotional growth. The club has over 300 players participating on 20+ competitive teams and in an all-inclusive Academy, the Alpine Attack. Our home fields are in Portola Valley and Woodside, very close to highway 280.
The Alpine FC Academy Classes (Alpine Attack and After-School Program) are open to all younger school-age girls and boys who desire professional instruction for fun or to hone their soccer skills prior to joining a competitive or recreational (AYSO) team. Alpine FC also offers a Preschool Soccer program (the Alpine Ants) as well as various clinics for Goalkeeping, Mental Training, Speed and Agility, and Small Group Training, all of which are open to the community.
Governance Model:
We are an educational organization and strive to operate in a manner similar to your child's school.

The parents in a school do not set the calendar or curriculum, nor do they set the salary or job discription for the classroom teacher. Parents in a school are expected to communicate with the teacher regarding their own child's well-being, to volunteer to help wherever possible in the school, and to communicate with the Principal and Board on issues of curriculum or staffing. At Alpine FC, we hope for this same type of parent-coach-club relationship.
Volunteers:
Alpine FC is a volunteer-run organization in which every team is expected to contribute time to the club. All club-wide services (registration, field scheduling, referee assigning, uniforms, club-wide events) are organized by volunteers. Each team manager is expected to attend the monthly club-wide meetings which are open to the entire membership; the meeting schedule is posted on the master schedule of this website and minutes are available from the Secretary. The Board is elected annually in May (each team in good standing has one vote); nominations for Board positions may be sent to the Secretary. Managers and coaches are approved by the Board each season.
